The United Kingdom will invoke the European Union's Article 50 on March 29, formally beginning its removal from the EU.
Sir Tim Barrow, the nation's permanent representative to the EU, said Monday the nation planned to invoke Article 50. If all goes according to schedule, the United Kingdom will no longer be in the EU by March 2019.
"We have been informed in advance. We are are ready to begin negotiations," European Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas said.
