Emmanuel Macron is now officially France's new presidentby Circa News
World

France inaugurated 39-year-old centrist Emmanuel Macron as its new president today, reports Fox News.

Macron defeated Marine Le Pen, a far-right candidate who campaigned on an anti-globalist platform, in France's May 7 election. President of the Constitutional Council Laurent Fabius proclaimed the official outcome of the vote during a ceremony on Sunday in Paris.

Macron assumed control of the presidency after his predecessor, Socialist Francois Hollande, met with him for an hour.

Macron is the youngest president in France's history and only the eighth president of the Fifth Republic of France (which was created in 1958).

Macron's next political objective will be the win his party a majority of seats in the French parliament in the elections in June.
