The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 303 points to close above 21,000 for the first time ever on Wednesday, just one month after the Dow broke 20,000 last month, CNN Money reported. After President Trump's address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night, the Dow generated its largest point gain since November 7.

Though economic policy wasn't the highlight of his remarks, Wall Street insiders appeared to respond positively to his more subdued and refined presidential look.

"The speech didn't break any new ground, but it was much more orderly and methodical than we are used to hearing," said Nicholas Colas, chief market strategist at brokerage firm ConvergEx. "It was a solid speech from the perspective of putting Trump on a truly presidential footing," he added.

Since Trump claimed victory in November, the Dow soared 2,700 points.
