"General," a 10-year-old Great Pyrennes, used his nose and mouth to open doors and eventually escape from the Aquia-Garrisonville Animal Hospital in Stafford, VA on Monday. Surveillance footage captured the whole ordeal.

"He's a little Houdini. When it comes to doors, he can get a lot of doors open."

Travis Campbell, General's owner

General's family left him at the animal hospital kennel while they were out of town visiting relatives.

Nonetheless, the family was super-worried when they got the call that their beloved dog was missing after making his way out a back door early Monday morning.

Still, Campbell says the family was surprised by what General accomplished.

Troy Snuffer, Aquia-Garrisonville Animal Hospital administrator, told ABC7 News in an email that the hospital got General back around 7:30 p.m. Monday after he was found in a nearby neighborhood.

The hospital says General was spotted lying in a nearby yard. Snuffer says a woman named Mary Snodsmith told the hospital where General was and a Stafford animal control officer helped as well.

Snuffer says General seemed in good spirits after more than 15 hours on the loose. Campbell emailed ABC7 News to relay the news that General had been found. He says he, his wife and their six kids consider the dog a part of their family.

"Thank you so much for all your help," he wrote. "God bless you guys and everyone who helped spread the news."
