Italy's famed volcano, Mount Etna, erupted for the first time this year, expelling electrifying shades of orange and red into the night sky near the eastern coast of Sicily. The active volcano's latest eruption -- which can last days, and even weeks -- began on Monday evening local time, the Associated Press reported.

Authorities reported no harm to the neighboring towns of Catania and Taormina, and air traffic has not been affected by the ashy conditions.
