British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran just scored a role on the upcoming seventh season of HBO's "Game of Thrones," executive producers David Benioff and Dan Weiss revealed Sunday during Austin's South by Southwest festival.

“For years we were trying to get Ed Sheeran on the show to surprise Maisie and this year we finally did it,” Benioff said, according to Entertainment Weekly. Maisie Williams is reportedly a huge fan so this year it will finally happen.

Benioff and Weiss didn't reveal any details about his role.

This, however, won't be Sheeran's first on-screen role. The 26-year-old had a recurring role on FX's medieval drama "The Bastard Executioner" in 2015 and had a cameo in 2016's "Bridget Jones' Baby," according to USA Today

Past seasons of "Game of Thrones" have featured musical cameos from members of Coldplay, Mastodon, Of Monsters and Men, and Sigur Rós. It's unclear whether Sheeran will have a musical role, Vanity Fair reports.

"Game of Thrones" returns on July 16, 2017.
