WATCH | What do you get when you combine bluegrass and hip-hop? You get Gangstagrass. The project is the brain-child of Oscar "Rench" Owens, who started experimenting with the genre-breaking sound in 2006. You need to hear it to believe it.

Gangstagrass is Oscar "Rench" Owens (vocals/guitar/beats), Dan Whitener (banjo/vocals), Melody Berger (fiddle/vocals), Landry McMeans (dobro/vocals), R-Son The Voice of Reason (emcee) and Dolio The Sleuth (emcee).

Check out the band's music video for "Barnburning."

The group's first big breakthrough came in 2010 when producers at FX Network commissioned Rench to write the theme song for a new show, "Justified." Before long, millions of TV viewers were hearing the bluegrass/hip-hop sound every week.

The band has been touring all over the world, and fans seem to be catching onto the Gangstagrass vibe. Check out gangstagrass.com to see when the band will be playing at a venue near you.
