Sir Patrick Stewart couldn't make a fist. Then he started using Circa News

Sir Patrick Stewart is a Hollywood legend. He's 76. He's not exactly the caricature of a stoner.

But he uses marijuana every day to cope with pain from arthritis. He published a statement Wednesday explaining how he relies on edibles and a cannabis spray and ointment, supporting an Oxford University initiative to study cannabis-based medicine.

Stewart said a doctor told him two years ago to start using cannabis-based medicine, the Daily Mail reports.

"I can make fists, which was not the case before I began this treatment."

Stewart said his treatment was an "important step forward for Britain in a field of research that has been too long held back by prejudice, fear and ignorance."

He use a cannabis ointment he uses every night and a cannabis spray, applied "several times a day."  Stewart said other traditional medicines are known to have dangerous side effects that affect the liver.
