Former CIA director John Brennan said 'Trump should be ashamed' after his CIA speechby Mike Denison

On his first full day as president, Donald Trump gave a speech at the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.

That speech, in which Trump attacked the news media for reporting on the size of the crowd at his inauguration, "deeply saddened and angered" former CIA Director John Brennan, according to a statement.

One person who attended his speech said many in attendance were troubled by how political it was, CNN reports.

Brennan has been an outspoken critic of Trump in the past,  most recently doubting Trump had a "full understanding of Russian capabilities."  He was offended that Trump held his speech in front of a memorial honoring the 117 CIA officers slain in the line of duty.

"Former CIA Director Brennan is deeply saddened and angered at Donald Trump's despicable display of self-aggrandizement in front of CIA's Memorial Wall of Agency heroes," spokesman Nick Shapiro said in a statement. "Brennan says that Trump should be ashamed of himself."

Trump, who has clashed with U.S. intelligence in recent months, told the CIA he was "with you 1,000 percent" and "There is nobody that feels stronger about the intelligence community and the CIA than Donald Trump."
