Obama has vowed to 'take action' against Russia for election hacking by Circa News

President Obama promised to retaliate against Russia for hacking operations aimed at tampering with the results of the November elections.

Obama said in an interview with NPR, published Friday, that any time a foreign government tries to interfere in U.S. elections, the nation must take action “and we will at a time and place of our own choosing."

This is the latest statement from Obama since he ordered an intelligence review of election hackings in the last three presidential elections.

“Some of it may be explicit and publicized; some of it may not be," Obama on taking action.

President-elect Donald Trump has continued to defend Russia and Putin.

Russia responds

Meanwhile, Russia has sneered at the idea that Putin was behind the hackings.

“It’s time either to stop talking about this or finally to present evidence,” Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters, according to ABC News.

“Otherwise it starts to look highly indecent.”
