UPDATE 1:04 p.m.EST: The Senate Intelligence Committee walked back Burr's comments.

ORIGINAL STORY: A lawyer representing former national security adviser Michael Flynn told the Senate Intelligence Committee that his client won't honor its subpoena for private documents, panel chairman Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) told the Associated Press.

The committee is investigating possible ties between President Trump's campaign and Russia.

Burr said the members of his committee are not surprised. "We'll figure out on Gen. Flynn what the next step, if any, is," Burr said.
