WATCH | On the cocktail menu at ROKC, the drink vessels aren't mentioned. It lists only the ingredients, which, while standard for your typical bar, adds an element of surprise to your drink order at this Harlem hot spot. Because at ROKC, the presentation of the cocktails is as important as their taste.
Eggshells, fire and smoke
Owner and bar director Shige Kabashima serves up works of art that are almost too beautiful to be consumed. The menu boasts an impressive selection of 40 cocktails, made up of 20 of their own creations and 20 of their takes on classics.
Order the Thai Tea, and you'll receive a cocktail-filled eggshell alongside your drink. The Pineapple will be set on fire, and the Smoke arrives cloaked in, as the name suggests, smoke. And if you choose the Tomato/Clam, you'll be presented with a conch shell.
The meaning of ROKC
Prior to opening ROKC, Kabashima became known for his mixology work at the renowned Manhattan speakeasy Angel's Share. With his unique creations at ROKC, it's abundantly clear that he has what it takes to stand out among the competition.
ROKC, which stands for "ramen, oysters, kitchen and cocktails," stays true to to its name with an imaginative ramen menu to match its remarkable drink list. You'll want to try out their noodles with your liquor, given that drinking on an empty stomach is rarely a good idea.

A blend of East and West
While other bars are still trying to keep the mason jar trend alive, Kabashima is inventing cocktails unlike anything you've ever seen. His inspiration comes largely from the Tokyo cocktail scene, where he first discovered the light bulb glasses. However, he also tries to bring an Americanized element into his presentation.
