WATCH | For some, a new year means a renewed and perfunctory commitment to a diet of boring, soulless foods. For others, it's an opportunity to celebrate January's best national food holidays -- namely popcorn, pie and hot sauce.
Jan. 19 is National Popcorn Day. Popcorn has been found in thousand-year-old tombs.
Jan. 22 is National Hot Sauce Day. Edmund McIlhenny created Tobasco sauce in the 1860s.
Jan. 23 is National Pie Day. Predating 2000 BCE, a Sumerian tablet featured a recipe for a pie filled with bird meat and organs. (Apple pies, like the one pictured, may be a bit more popular these days.)
POLL | Now for a difficult decision: Which of these foods is most worthy of a national holiday?
