Dole's corporate chef was amused by the president of Iceland's wish to ban pineapple pizzaby Jean-Sun Ahn

WATCH | Remember when the president of Iceland said if he had the power, he would ban pineapple on pizza? Makes you wonder why he felt so strongly against the zesty fruit.

Back in February, a high school student askedPresident J√≥hannesson what he thought about pineapple as a pizza topping. J√≥hannesson expressed his dislike for pineapple-topped pizza and stated that, if he had the power, he would ban pineapple pizza. At the International Pizza expo last week in Las Vegas, we spoke with Dole corporate chef, James Bickmore-Hutt who expressed his thoughts on the Iceland President's strong opinions of pineapple on pizza.

"It was an interesting day at Dole when they heard the news and it was one of the more funnier days, we really didn’t expect that Iceland had registered the pizza, we don’t really sell a whole lot of pineapple to Iceland, but it was amusing for us," Bickmore-Hutt said.

Dole debuted their sausage and peach pizza which is their version of a 'sweet and savory pizza' which is topped with Italian sausage, diced peach, caramelized onions, Italian herbs and seasoning.
