The new Miss USA is taking fire after saying health care is a 'privilege,' not a rightby Circa News

Newly crowned Miss USA Kara McCullough, a scientist at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, drew criticism on social media after saying that health care is a privilege and not a right, CNN reported.

McCullough was asked during the competition whether "affordable health care for all U.S. citizens is a right or a privilege." "I'm definitely going to say it's a privilege," she said. "As a government employee, I am granted health care and I see first-hand that for one to have health care, you have to have jobs."

"So therefore," she added, "we need to continue to cultivate this environment that we're given the opportunity to have health care as well as jobs to all American citizens worldwide."

As one can imagine, there was a decent amount of pushback against McCullough's comments on social media.

People were unhappy with how she thought and spoke about the issue.

But McCullough also had her supporters.
