McDonald's tweeted from its corporate account that the tweet that insulted Trump was the result of a hack.
"Twitter notified us that our account was compromised," the tweet read. "We deleted the tweet, secured our account and are now investigating this."
ORIGINAL STORY: McDonald's tweeted harsh insults toward President Trump from its verified corporate account Thursday morning.
It is not clear if the tweet, which was pinned but swiftly deleted, was the result of a hack or a member of the McDonald's social media team sending an unauthorized message.
A McDonald's spokesperson said the matter was being investigated.
