Gender identity: It's more than just choosing a bathroomby Circa News

The federal rollback of Obama-era protections for transgender students in public schools -- which let them use bathrooms and facilities corresponding with their gender identity -- is making some feel they have less freedom to express themselves. 

The Trump administration says the Obama guidelines are overreaching and that the feds should leave the decision to states, while advocacy groups say federal guidelines are needed protect the rights of the transgender community. Both sides say students need to be protected. 

The debate has forced discussion on how people should look, act and feel about their gender.  

Whether you're straight, gay, lesbian, transgender or bisexual, how do you express who you are?   And how do you want society to tackle these issues? Should the states handle this or should it be addressed at the federal level? Should we have more federal protections or less?
