A US-led airstrike in Syria killed 18 anti-Assad rebels by mistakeby Circa News
Happening

A U.S.-led coalition airstrike against ISIS mistakenly killed 18 members of the Syrian Democratic Forces, rebels fighting against Bashar al-Assad, the Pentagon said Thursday.

The airstrike location had been wrongly identified as an ISIS position when it was actually a rebel-held position in Tabqah in northern Syria.

"The Coalition's deepest condolences go out to the members of the SDF and their families," a Pentagon statement read.

President Trump recently launched an airstrike  against a Syrian air base after the deadly chemical weapon attack last week. Syria's government has denied any involvement.
